Our laboratory uses the techniques of protein chemistry, molecular genetics, biophysics and cell biology. Much of our work is centered on membrane proteins, in particular channels and pores. We investigate both the fundamental properties of these proteins and their applications in biotechnology. Several of our studies are collaborations with other laboratories in the UK, USA and Europe. There are currently 7 postdocs, 15 graduate & masters students and a technician in the laboratory, from 10 different countries.
We are very grateful to our funders without which our research would not be possible:

Oxford Martin School: "3D printing for brain repair"

European Research Council Advanced Grant: "SYNTISU: Remotely-controlled functional synthetic tissues"

Oxford Nanopore Technologies: "Nanopore technology for biopolymer characterization"

 WellcomeLeap "Delta tissue"
